The Ambassador

H.E. Ambassador Arno Amfort Ahornegger

The head of mission presented his credentials to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the head of state of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at the Royal Basman Palace at the Al-Maquar in Amman, on Sunday, 2nd June 2024.

The ambassador has previously worked as the Order’s Minister to the Slovak Republic, and as a Special Adviser to the UNODC and IAEA at the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Arno Amfort Ahornegger served in several capacities for the Hospitaller Service (Relief Corps) of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Austria (MALTESER Hospitaldienst) and holds an active EMT certificate with the MHDA. Whenever time permits, the ambassador enjoys volunteering for the Order’s works both in Austria and in Slovakia, during his time off.

Before joining the Foreign Service of the Order of Malta, Ambassador Amfort Ahornegger has worked as a corporate executive and for a group of companies and a private family office, which manages a diverse investment portfolio in sectors such as Private Equity, M&A Consulting, FinTech, Healthcare, Natural Resources & Energy, and Tourism & Hospitality.

Arno Amfort Ahornegger holds several supervisory positions with both commercial enterprises and non-profit organizations in Europe and North America. He is also a founding member of World Spine Care Europe, an international charity and NGO providing affordable, evidence-based spine care in underserved communities around the globe.

Ambassador Amfort is an IVLP alumnus and participated in a professional exchange program by the U.S. Department of State.
